What’s for snack?

If you’re in the mood for a quick snack, boy are you in the right place! Chinatown has plenty of choices on offer. Let’s start with a common snack – the steamed bun.

1) Chicken bun (siopao) from New Town Bakery.  (148 E. Pender St.)

The famous chicken bun/siopao from New Town

2) Jumbo chicken bun from Kam Wai Dim Sum (249 E. Pender St.)

Look at the size of that thing!

Chicken, Chinese sausage, and egg yolk

3) Steamed bun from Harvest. (243 Union St.)

Seems to be a modern take on the "gua bao" concept...

Careful…steamed buns can be very filling!  What starts off as a snack might end up becoming a meal!  Do try one out (or three) next time you’re in Chinatown.  Walk around.  Enjoy the sights.  Then buy some more to take home.
